How did we start?

The idea for scientific committees on energy and sustainability in heritage began within ICOMOS at the 2012 General Assembly in Paris with the establishment of the International Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability, ISCES.

Following this, three Australian members of the International Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability (ISCES), Peter Phillips, Rachel Jackson and Helen Wilson met in Sydney and in late 2013 after the Australia ICOMOS conference in Canberra, and formed the Australia ICOMOS Energy and Sustainability Working Group.

In October 2014, NSCES – the Australia ICOMOS National Scientific Committee on Energy and Sustainability – was formed with endorsement from the Australia ICOMOS Executive Committee.
